Partner Yoga & Chocolate Meditation Workshop

Friday, February 12
6:00-7:30pm
Come with a partner to this fun and relaxing workshop that will help you experience your poses playfully and differently. Build trust, share strength, and develop awareness and mindful communication. Our yoga practice ends with deep relaxation, followed by chocolate meditation!
*those with dietary concerns (sugar-free, nut-free, etc) are welcome to BYO chocolate*

~All levels of meditation and chocolate appreciation are welcome~

Anatomy Weekend

Friday, February 19th – Sunday, February 21st, 2016

Interested in the anatomy and its application to the yoga poses (asanas) we do in class? Join us for an in-depth weekend of anatomy and yoga workshops with our dear friend Kristin.

Whether you are a teacher of Yoga or Pilates, or a student who desires better understanding of your body, Kristin’s incredibly accessible teaching will enhance your knowledge and give you valuable tools to help you (and your students) stay safe — and her sense of humor will ensure you have a great time doing it!

You can sign up for specific parts you’re interested in or stay the whole weekend. But space is limited, so register soon!

Yoga Teacher Trainees will be joining us as well!

Friday, February 19th 5:30 – 9pm
Introduction to Anatomy– Students will learn the main concepts of yoga anatomy with reference to the philosophy of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, anatomical terms (ie anterior, lateral, fascia, ligament), the skeletal system and synovial joint structure.
Embodied Practice -Building on the themes in our lecture students will be led through a yoga asana practice that reinforces safe joint movement and gives a chance to embody tools (svadhyaya) to bring balance.

Saturday, February 20th (AM Session) 11:30am – 1:30pm
Spine/Torso– Exploring the vertebral column with special attention to maintaining the 4 neutral curves and specialized movement/cautions in each region, students will explore main muscle groups in the back/torso that will be necessary for safe appropriate movement of the spine/torso in a yoga practice.

Saturday, February 20th (PM Session) 1:30pm – 7:30pm (4-5:15 Break)
Hip/Knee/Ankle– Diving into the lower limb with special attention to the feet/Knee and hip joints and balanced action in the main muscle groups/compartments in the leg.
Embodied asana– Students will be lead through a therapeutic Yoga series for the spine and Hip/Knee/Ankle continued and Anatomy of breath- A continuation of the morning lectures plus an anatomical and energetic exploration of the thoracic diaphragm and accessory muscles of the breath
Embodied breath exercise– embodied pranayama with attention to the anatomy of the breath

Sunday, February 21st (AM Session) 11:30am – 1:15pm 
Shoulder/Elbow/Wrist- Scapular and gleno-scapular rhythm will be discussed and common teacher verbal instructions will be examined. Exploration of the elbow/hand and wrist will be emphasized as poor weight bearers and helpful hints about alignment in hand weight bearing postures will be discussed.
Sunday, February 21st (PM Session) 2:00 – 5:00pm 
Nervous System– A Breakdown of the Nervous System components with special attention to the Sympathetic and Parasympathetic Nervous System. In-depth discussion of how we elicit purposely and unconsciously both physiological responses and consequences of both.
Embodied Asana experience- Building on this weekend’s lectures students will experience an embodied asana practice highlighting our discussions.

The Calm Mom Coaching Circle is designed for busy Moms who suffer from overwhelm & stress. It is for mothers who are ready to learn & practice simple tools that will help manage these challenges from a mindful and heart-centered place~

In this 5-week course you will:

  • Identify and reconcile with your stress triggers & the thought patterns that fuel these
  • Learn mindful & emotional intelligence strategies to help you respond to stress in a healthy way
  • Develop a personalized ‘Calm Mom strategy’ to take home with you
  • Join a community of honest & supportive Moms who are ready to “get real” about motherhood,while working towards more calm & joyful living.

This circle is for all Moms: working Moms, stay-at-home Moms, Single Moms, Moms with children of all ages.
