Vinyasa Flow Yoga emphasizes linking breath to all movements or asana sequences throughout the practice. This flowing class is energizing, incorporating some sun salutations as well as many familiar hatha yoga postures. It allows one to flow deeper into practice and into the spirit of yoga. Level 1/2 vinyasa flow is for experienced beginners through intermediate level practitioners.
Level 2 is for more experienced yogis.
Hatha Yoga represents opposing energies: hot and cold (fire and water, following similar concept as yin-yang), male and female, positive and negative. Hatha yoga attempts to balance mind and body via physical postures or "asanas", purification practices, controlled breathing, and the calming of the mind through relaxation and meditation. Asanas teach poise, balance and strength and are practiced to improve the body's physical health and clear the mind.
Sustainable Ashtanga is a profound system that detoxifies and strengthens the physical body while expanding consciousness and quieting the mind. Previous experience is necessary to practice in the Ashtanga class.
Restorative Yoga is a restful practice that invites you into spine-opening poses supported by soft blankets and bolsters. Poses are held in a peaceful atmosphere with soothing music. If you haven't experienced Restorative Yoga, consider trying it for a deeply relaxing and beautiful experience.
Senior Yoga and Super Gentle Yoga both accommodate those with health concerns whether it is injuries, back pain, weakness in wrists or knees or other circumstances. Students use both chairs and yoga mats, and students have the option to do the poses without the chair or to sit in the chair for the entire class.
Gentle Yoga is for all levels of yogis, as a helpful practice whether you are an experienced yogi who needs a gentle change from a vigorous yoga practice, a beginner who would like a nurturing, slow paced practice or someone who is building strength to help heal an injury.
Prenatal Yoga helps you to stay in-tune with your changing body throughout the nine months of pregnancy. The postures, breathing and relaxation techniques are designed to relieve common pregnancy discomforts and prepare and strengthen body and mind for the challenges of labor, birth and motherhood.
Yoga for the Deaf uses sign language, demonstration, and lip reading, and deaf students receive the benefits of yoga including flexibility, strengthening, balance and calm. Hearing students are welcome.
Pilates exercises work on breath control, coordination, abdominal strength and spinal/pelvic stability. Props such as balls, bands and light weights are incorporated into class. Leave feeling energized and strong. Choose from Beginner's, Mixed Level, or Intermediate Level classes.
